Price is a bit steep.

I agree that the price is a bit much. It appears the price was $2.99 when it was released on March 4th then it was jacked up to $9.99 on the 13th? Ouch!

No Jukebox

Postby Guapo » Sat Mar 20, 2010 12:57 pm

Hi there,

I bought the app (and yes, 7€/10$ is a lot), the idea being to be able to control my player connected to my hi-fi system and play some Flac files.
Unfortunately, the Jukebox mode does not seem to work from the iPhone, the apps just gets me back to the "desktop" when I click play on a song.

I hope this can be fixed (and that updates will be free).

Sure glad I got away from Apple. I am totally happy now that I got a droid.

Yeah, I would absolutely buy this for $2.99.

$10, though? No thanks.

Wonder if you lowered the price, how many people from these forums would purchase it. I know I would. I too currently use simplify media at the moment but would love to transition over to having a subsonic app. If I only had the time to develop an iPhone app I would and sell it for a few bucks as you initially did. Thanks for your efforts anyway!

i hit my own website directly and was able to use this w/o any interface..so doesnt this just add overhead to the iphone?

in other words whats the value in using the application when i can do thi straight from safari anyway?

Thanks for any replies and this was not meant to be de-constructive..

Web-sites are never as good for touchscreen use as application with large buttons and other things touch thingies. I personally find accessing subsonic from browser almost impossible on mobile phone. It's like auto radio, you don't have time to play with it, you want to do simple thing, listen to music and quickly surf thorough database. I believe you think you are fast with browser, but when you try other option beware, you may never look back again... :)

$$$$$$$

Postby whimpyjones » Sat Mar 27, 2010 12:45 am

I bought this app when it was $2.99 and I would pay 10 x that amount. I can not tell you the amount of $ I have spent trying to find the best way to stream from my WHS box to my iphone and computers at work. Somehow I found Subsonic and have been a paid supporter ever since. Just totaling up I have spent over $50 on iphone apps trying to stream to my iphone. Finally someone develops this, while not perfect, plays all of my music flawlessly, direct to my phone, not through another server somewhere. It works and works well and is worth the money to me. Thanks Sola!

Ok people :)

The original 2.99 price was meant to be introductory and many [quick] users snagged it at that price.

Version 1.4 is coming out this week with a couple of significant feature upgrades and minor bug fixes AND ... a lower price 8) !

Version 1.4 screenshot

Upgrades will be free.

I appreciate your support! And the support of everyone who has left some feedback one way or another.

It does take a lot of time and creativity to put out quality work.

This feature is coming in version 1.4 of Z-Subsonic ... this week. Songs are cached for 2 weeks or less, depending on the amount of space the user allocates to caching.

Thanks for this feature - it will be really useful and make the app even better! I'm looking forward to updating to 1.4 when it comes out.

PS: I paid full price in Australia ($A12.99) and with the new features that are coming I feel it is good value. Thanks for your hard work. :D
