Personally, I don't mind sacrificing 10+ seconds at track start to ensure reliable playback, whereas others may not want to wait as long.

Yes that'll definitely be on the menu for 1.2 for exactly the reasons you just mentioned.

Yes it really pissed me off to put it lightly. They rejected it immediately after they started reviewing it. I think someone just read in my description that it supported 3G and slapped me with the rulebook. I've looked at the other apps that support 3G and none of them mention it in their descriptions in the App Store (unless I missed one), and probably for good reason. It seems like they have computer drones doing the reviewing lol. They don't seem to actually use "logic", they probably just follow a checklist or something. And trying to communicate with the app review team over email is like trying to talk to a brick wall. I don't think you ever get the same reviewer twice, and I think they spend all of 5 seconds reviewing an app (even though they go on about how in depth their review process is). We'll see if the 3G restriction flag is still turned on in this next build, what with all the code I'm changing, accidents happen

Just wanted to pop in and update with my progress on version 1.2. All albums page is done, it loads in the background (and only once per app use) so if you have a lot of albums you can browse around the artists page and select new songs, etc while it's loading. The all songs page will be done tomorrow and will work the same way. Then it's on to the updated settings page that will include multiple server support and the ability to change the audio buffer in app.

Also, I've done a TON of code cleanup and re-working as I've been implementing these new features. I completely overhauled my caching system, so those infinite loop browsing problems are gone (as well as a possible bug if an album had 2 songs of the same name and other naming issues).

Still on target for an early next week release unless something comes up.

Great job on the app so far.

Any chance you want to be the first mobile app to support SSL (https)? I'm not sure if it will work totally correctly yet since Subsonic still seems to have some problems operating over SSL, but it would be worth a shot. Be sure to allow the user to connect to a server with a self-signed SSL certificate (ignore certificate errors or allow the user to set / manage exceptions).

I'll definitely give it a shot. I'm working with OpenSSL in C for a different project so I'm somewhat familiar with it. I'll see what it would take to implement, I haven't worked with it yet on the iPhone.

Hi,

Downloaded your app today. But can't seem to get it to work.
I enter the settings and hit save it then goes to the index page and displays Error: Required parameter is missing.

Any ideas why?

Figured it out, it doesn't like my complex passwords. I set up a user with just a letter and number password and it worked.
So i take it that it doesn't support symbols (!"£$%^&*~#) etc.?

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I'll figure out what the problem is (possibly with character encoding when I send my request to Subsonic) and I'll try to have that fixed for the next version.

EDIT: Figured it out. This will be fixed in the next version. Thanks again for letting me know :)

Just submitted version 2.0 to the App Store. I'll post a new thread with full description and new screenshots as soon as it's approved.

just want to say i love your app. it's by far the best user interface of the iphone apps for subsonic available. i used to use simplify media, the only one i knew about but when the decided to close the service i started to look around for other services. i found orb first. it was ok, but very unstable and did not work well on my mac. finally i found subsonic and everything works great. the only thing for me is that with the other services i used my iphone to stream music over 3g when i was on the move. that's my main use with these kinds of services and with lot of my friends to. have you heard anything new about the getting 3g into the app? have you tried to sneek it past apple without telling them about the 3g option, hehe :D it's pretty strange since simplify media, orb, radio apps and alot of others have 3g option. i cant really use your app much without that option and i think it sucks!!

one other thing. in the isub app when i use it i can see and play music from "artists but in "albums" it just says loading and nothing happens. in songs it doesn't show anything at all. is there a way to fix this? i have around 25 000 songs in my library.

once again LOVE the app. need 3g ;)

I was just as frustrated as you when I initially submitted my app with working 3G support and they rejected it saying it was against the rules (which makes no sense as you obviously know). However, I was able to include 3G support in version 2.0 which is the current version in the app store. Check out the iSub version 2.0 announcement thread for full details on all of the new stuff in 2.0.

It may take quite a while for your albums and songs pages to load because you have such a large library. In version 2.1 (which will be out soon), I have already implemented saving the artists, albums, and songs lists between sessions. So, you wait for them to load just once (possibly a long time, I've heard someone say it took 20 minutes for their songs page to load), then unless you manually reload, the lists will show up instantly from then on.

Plea to happy iSub users

Unfortunately due to Apple initially not allowing me to include 3G support in my app (which I had coded in from day one), I've racked up some bad reviews in the app store because of that deficiency. Right now in the US app store anyway, I have only a 3 star rating, mostly because of a 1 star rating from someone saying it was worthless without 3G. Now of course I do have 3G support, but the ratings still stand.

So, I make a plea to all satisfied iSub users from any country, if you are enjoying the app please do me a HUGE favor and leave me a review or at least a rating.

I have almost 200 sales so far, but only a few reviews and ratings (mostly from version 1.0). Even if just a small percentage of happy users leave me a review, it would really do a lot to bring my rating up to where I think it belongs and will paint a more accurate picture of the quality of the app to potential new users.

Thanks in advance to anyone that takes the time to do this!

downloaded version 2.0 and are super happy. the best streaming app by far!! will rate 5 stars in norwegian appstore ;) thanks again for a great app!!

is there any chance of an option to change buffersize in the next release? find that sometimes it skips a bit. it would be nice to be able to change buffersize when that happens...

Thanks!

I'm aware of the buffer issues and working on optimizing it so that there will be no need for a buffer setting. In the short term I'll just be increasing the default buffer size to help alleviate the problem as much as possible; in the long term, I'm rewriting my streaming code so that it caches all the way ahead and into the next song so the audio dropping problems will be a thing of the past.

iTunes has got nothing to do with Subsonic and iSub. Sharing playlist between iTunes and Subsonic are described somewhere else on the forum.
Use the forum search function.
