questions about port forwarding

is it appropriate to forward port 8080 to port 8080? In the network settings I have it set to automatically configure my router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (UPnP port forwarding). It now says: successfully forwarding public port 8080 to local port 8080. I just want to be sure that makes sense.
