Edit the default web address?

Hi guys, I would love to be able to change the default web address to another domain besides subsonic, is there a way I can do this without having to dig in the config files? I would rather host it on a dyndns server I would not mind donating for this feature to be implemented. I just really think it would be nice to give users more options and not *have* to donate for that feature. Thanks once again, Purpley

sure, you can just use dyndns, no questions asked. just set up router and dyndns provider as you like. throw in a url redirect of your choice for nicer looks and you are set.

If you have a static IP you can also buy your own domainname from GoDaddy and easily link it to your IP address.

i have my subsonic forwarding from music.daveydz.com to my ip address for it. thing is, the domain name will mask the ip address if you're already signed in, but if you're not, it'll show the ip address. how can this be fixed?

I use LCN.com for a couple of reasons, 1 is price and 2 is they have all the DNS management stuff I need.

If your web page is just a normal HTML file, like (say) "home2.html", the easiest way is to simply rename it to "index.html". Most (if not all) web servers will automatically serve that file when your visitors go to your domain without any filename (like "http://www.example.com/").

Using a standard name like "index.html" not only solves the problem, but it may also help when search engines discover that
"www.example.com" has an identical page to "www.example.com/index.html". Since this is the case for most websites, an intelligent search engine can simply regard it as the same page, and not treat it as a duplicate, causing all sorts of duplicate content problems.

This should be the method you use, unless you have special reasons for not wanting the standard filename.

You can use an iframe and have subsonic load within that. Search for iframe and you should find a topic on this. I use musicphile.ca to access my setup now and the masking sticks. You will need to edit a few of the .jsp files to get this to work though.
