Are you able to access the subsonic server form an other pc on your network?

When you get the timeout on xxx.subsonic.org, what's the ip address showing up?

Is it possible for you to say what the xxx.subsonic.org address is? wold give
us a chance to see the errors our self.

As a last resort try manipulating your config file.
Setting the ip address, port....... that subsonic binds to manually.

go to this site http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and see if your router is opening your ports correctly. That way we might be able to narrow the problem down.

Just for your benefit I installed the windows version of subsonic.

In your "Subsonic install dir. edit (in a text editor) the file:
subsonic-service.exe.vmoptions

It should lock something like this:

Code: Select all
-Xmx100m
-Dsubsonic.host=0.0.0.0
-Dsubsonic.port=4040
-Dsubsonic.contextPath=/

Change til to something like this:

Code: Select all
-Xmx100m
-Dsubsonic.host=192.168.1.2
-Dsubsonic.port=4040
-Dsubsonic.contextPath=/

Then right click on the link file called just subsonic in the install dir
--> properties and change the path from:

Code: Select all
http://localhost:4040

to

Code: Select all
http://192.168.2.21:4040/

restart subsonic and see what's happening.

I am also having the same issue. I can connect to my x.subsonic.org when using a computer on my home network but not from any external computer.

@ oeh,

I tried everything that you suggested in your last post and that did not work for me. From what I can tell, the issue started when I moved and had to change ISP's.

@ kermit22

I went to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and tested port 80 as well as several other random ports (35000, 65000, 51234) and the utility told me each time that the port was closed on the IP address from my ISP. Could that be the cause of the issue?

Did all this and didn't see any difference. Thanks for the effort, though.

Any other updates on this issue? Still cannot connect to my subsonic address from a computer not on my home network.

I had similar problems... This may not work for everyone... but, I disabled upnp on my router and rebooted it... It's been working great since then.
