Network Errors On The Android...Script Errors On The Web

Postby Son of Spam » Sat Apr 16, 2011 8:03 pm

I've been trying to access my playlists on my Android Subsonic app, but I keep getting an error message saying "A network error occurred. Retrying 1 (2, 3, 4) of 4." But when I try to access other web-enabled apps (eg. Facebook) or another music streaming app (Audiogalaxy) I have no problem.

Part of the reason I donated money was so that I could have uninterrupted access to my music and videos. I'm lucky if I'm able to just select one Artist or one Album and play that, but this is not why I migrated from Audiogalaxy to Subsonic. (AG has a ridiculous 2,000-song limit on their playlists).

Secondly, I've been experiencing several "Unresponsive script" errors on the web-based SS:

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HP_Administrator/Application%20Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/0z500cb9.default/extensions/%7Bd10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d%7D/modules/RequestNotifier.jsm:61".

And that's to name just one of the script errors. I've had others mentioning the Chrome browser, when I'm using Firefox.

This is severely hampering my enjoyment of an application which I have spent much time finally configuring (and paid money for). And I don't say that to be a jerk. I'm just really frustrated by the issue.

Please help.

Sorry, alphawave: I fail to see what one has to the do with the other.

The thread you're linking to dealt with not being able to access my music from another computer.

This thread has to do with scripting errors one the web client and network errors on the mobile app.

As I had mentioned earlier, I was able to select only one album on the mobile app to listen to because the Playlist I had created would not load. Everytime I call it up in my Android app I get a "A network error occurred" message.

When I go to the web client, I see a Status error message stating the following:

internationalgarage.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

Okay...granted that error message probably has something to do with my earlier thread. Still...

Again, understand that I am not a programmer by trade or hobby; know nothing about packets and hosts and whatnot. While learning about one's computer is great, I'm more interested in trying get this thing up and running so that I can listen to my music wherever I go.

The suggestion to keep your issues confined to a single thread helps us keep your setup particulars in focus, speeding solutions, and it's perfectly okay to say another issue has cropped up within the same thread, even if the original post isn't directly related to the new issue, as they still show up in a forum search. :)

Is the android app still working/accessing your db properly outside of trying to use long playlists?

Yeah, sorry if I came off as rather testy. I think it was the frustration speaking.

Unfortunately, not anymore. I continue to have connectivity problems using Subsonic.

No worries. :) Let's get your server behaving normally first.

Does your server machine have a fixed IP lan IP address? Are you using the UPnP method included in Subsonic to open your port, or did you configure it manually?
I'm not reaching your Subsonic's jetty server using your IP and port combo, nor your subsonic.org address, so the server is either stopped, or the port 'pinhole' isn't working. We'll need to restart the service first, so ensure it's working. :)

I was able to hit your logon page a few days ago, but it's down now. You seem to be having the classic router setup problem. These problems can be fixed easily, but they do take a bit of patience and the ability to READ the various instructional information that's available. If you take one step at a time and CLEARLY describe the issues you're having at each step, you'll get plenty of help. If you change 5 or 6 things without anyone knowing what you've done, it will not be possible for anyone to know what to do to help you get SS up and running properly.

YAY! She's up and running, now (the Android app, at least)!

And it was all because of a simple check mark:

You see, I DON'T HAVE A ROUTER!!! :x

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, I HAD SELECTED THE AUTOMATIC ROUTER CONFIGURATION OPTION IN THE NETWORK SETTINGS!!!

(Good grief!)

So, yes...it WAS the classic router setup problem, lol!

Thanks for all your help (and patience), everyone. Now when I get to work tomorrow I'll see if I can access my logon page from my workstation.

Cheers, all!

And a big shoutout to Alphawave!
