So you're saying GoogleTV can access subsonic and play video just fine? No problems? You're just doing it through the web browser?
Yes I've been accessing it through the web browser. I've run into several Transcoding issues (some videos not playing, and no subtitle support), and issues with JW player's performance (when playing at high bitrate [ 2000+ ], the player randomly stops every minute or so for 5 seconds at a time, it's consistent and annoying). It seems to me that the Flash Player in Google TV's Chrome browser is quite shitty, likely due to the underpowered CPU, but the constant stopping problem is likely an issue with JW player, not Flash itself (no problems playing long YouTube videos at High Rez).
I haven't looked into optimizing my Transcoding settings, and honestly, I don't really want to deal with that. My experience with Subsonic on GoogleTV has been a bit underwhelming. The web frontend does not fit my TV, I see scrollbars for the top and left menus, even with the 720p / 1080p themes. Altering Transcoding settings is completely hit or miss, and requires familiarity with ffmpeg,
and it's not possible to alter which Flash Video Player you're using without modifying the source (which seems like something totally doable and simple).
Now that GoogleTV is getting the Android Marketplace it makes more sense to me to adopt the Android app to run on the TV, instead of relying on the web browser for video playback. This is something I'm personally interested in and will be checking out how feasible and complicated a task it is.
