Just downloaded and installed latest update. Transcoding mp3 > ogg first track paused and restarted from the begining at about the 12 sec mark. Half way point of first track it jumps to the second track. After that it plays remaining tracks fine. Listening on Subsonic 4.7 unmodded server.

Moving to a Madsonic server without transcoding, mp3 plays properly.

Switched back to unmodded Subsonic site - turned transcoding off. MP3 plays without problems.

I'm using Jelly Bean. Never had this issue on ICS. I will also try testing some versions of ffmpeg that always worked earlier.

All testing run connected over Wifi @ 30mbps bandwidth.

EDIT: Earlier ffmpeg that used to always work caused the first track to jump to the 2nd track after 16 sec. into the first track, then 2nd track jumped early, a little more than halfway through the second track.

Transcoding to ogg on Jelly Bean seems to have a bug that corrupts the estimation of track lengths affecting at least the first track on recent versions of ffmpeg and maybe the first two on the older version tested. I'll download the latest version from Zeranoe next and see how that goes.

EDIT: Latest ffmpeg restart first track @ 16 sec into first track transcoding to ogg on unmodded Subsonic site. At the 5:43 mark of an 8:48 track the player jumped to the second track. Changing ffmpeg versions doesn't fix the problem. The latest Subsonic app about 15 secs. into the first track jumped right to the second track.

It works with DSub, however, the metadata is not showing up. The app developer says that he needs to add each player manually, and I have already emailed him asking for DSub implementation. He also includes says "A player can only be supported if its developer has decided to broadcast meta data within Android and I am able to contact them."

Is this something that can be doable in the future? Thanks.

It's a possibility depending on what needs to be broadcasted. I don't really want to add too many more things that are constantly being broadcasted, but if it uses one of the standard intents sure I'll look into it. Can you have him send me the what needs to be broadcasted?

I contacted the dev and he is already contacted Sindre to implement the official Subsonic support, so since this is a fork off that, I'm guessing it should work? I'll contact him anyway, just in case.

As a side note, is there a possibility of an option that downloads album art in the same folder as the album, as opposed to a different folder altogether? This is just in case I decide to use PowerAmp, for example, to listen to already downloaded/cached files and avoid having to redownload album art.

Thanks for the reply!

Yah I can grab the source from Sindre if he ever implements it then. As for the album art I've already been meaning to do that, I just haven't yet sorry.

Love the work you're doing on D-Sub - keep it up !

Hate to confess I have a niggle, but I do have just one little bugaroonie I'm noticing.

I tend to listen to albums, rather than playlists, and I've noticed of late (since the last two updates) that whenever I start downloading the first track, it'll play after about 600kB is downloaded, but then I get a lot of 'sticking' (like a broken CD skipping). This usually stops when the entire track downloads, but then the other bug kicks in - it gets to the end of track 1, but then goes to the start of track 1 again, rather than starting track 2 (even though this has downloaded in its entirety).

I run a modified version of ICS 4.03 on a Huawei G300 (stop sniggering at the back there - it's a great phone...)

Also, am eagerly anticipating gapless playback, although appreciate this may only be possible on Jellybean (luckily there is a good community of people developing ROMS for this phone)

I haven't noticed this happening at all. Is there anything you might have changed around the time you started having these issues such as different rom or changed server version. I don't think I've changed anything in the last couple of updates which should have affected that

I have noticed the same problem, but I tend to notice it only when playing a file that is in OGG format. I notice that while downloading or cacheing the file, when viewing it in file manager under Subsonic Music,, you will notice it starts downloading and names the file .partial... then it has a duplicate file below that one called ..complete.... that seems to only be on the first track.

I'm posting to second the skipping problem that clayts450 described. I've used Subsonic on a variety of stock Android and Cyanogen ROMS from Froyo up to Jelly Bean, and I've always noticed skipping in the first track while it is still downloading. I installed DSub hoping that you had fixed it, but no luck. I'd love to help get this fixed if there's anything I can do. I have some Android development experience so I cloned your github and looked around, but I have no idea where to start. Any thoughts?

It should all be in the DownloadServiceImpl. I am starting to think it might be an issue of the transition between buffering and playing the actual file. I want to finish a few things up for this next release, then I am going to really see if I can open up the guts of the playback and work on these various stuttering issues people keep having.

Yeah, also having this happen on my Galaxy Nexus. Wondering if its a read/write speed issue. I have a killer connection at home over WiFi so not necessarily a bandwidth problem, but it happens while trying to play the song while downloading. After it's downloaded it moves on and generally works fine after that.

On the Galaxy Nexus I've found that using the Franco kernel helps with the I/O contention that comes up when Subsonic or DSub is trying to play audio and download stuff (write to disk) at the same time. This helps with the intermittent pauses that can happen when any downloading is going on, but it doesn't help with the pauses at the start of the first track. I also find that DSub can skip at the start of an album, or when a new song is manually selected. It seems that the pausing is less likely to occur if the album continues to play without any manual selections or manual track skipping.

Thanks for looking into the playback issues daneren2005. This is the one thing keeping me from using Subsonic. For all it's awesome features, I flinch every time the music skips during playback.

Installed the latest update. Running AOKP Milestone 1 on Verizon Galaxy Nexus. The good news is that Bluetooth metadata does show up on my BMW's display. The bad news is that DSub no longer sees my home computer's music folders. It only seems to be seeing songs stored locally on my phone! When I test my connection it says the connection is successful. But it also says my account is unregistered even though I have donated and registered the passcode several times. Any suggestions?

Um, can you check on the basic Subsonic app and then double check the login details are the same for both? I didn't change anything that should have affected that, nore do I handle the registration of server within the app...

Yes I did and I'm having the same trouble with the basic Subsonic app. Not sure what the issue is. I can log in from another computer and see my music folders just fine. Just checked my port forwarding settings again and everything seems normal. As for the other issue of it not recognizing me to be a registered user, any ideas?

Just noticed that the Subsonic test server works fine on my Android phone, so the problem must be with my server. It used to work fine and I haven't changed anything recently.
