I'm not quite sure I understand what you are trying to accomplish after reading your post several times.
First, you can set the default theme to anything you want it to be which will then be the theme that each user will see when they first log on.
Second, if you uncheck " User is allowed to change settings and password" when you create the user, then they won't be able to change the appearence to anything but the default theme.
Finally, when you allow users to change settings and password, it only changes what they see and does not affect anyone else's settings, so why not allow them to do that?
From reading your post over a few times I am reading it as you want to control the appearence for each user and modify each user's appearence independently?
Seems a bit of an odd hobby. Am I reading something wrong here? Also, this is no different than what is available in the standard Subsonic setup, so why is this an issue for moving to Madsonic?
Additionally, I use generic users as "group logons" by having guest and visitor usernames that anyone can use to log on. You can create generic usernames with different definitions that can achieve varying levels of privileges for different groups without creating individual accounts.
