It has the option to use one IP address for a server when connected to a wifi network specified by essid, and different IP address for the same server if you're not connected to that wifi network. The rationale is that when you're at home you don't need your traffic going all over the internet if you can do it all on your LAN, but when you're out and about you can't connect to the local IP over the LAN. This makes the transition from home to out seamless while saving your internet's bandwidth.
Right now I have two servers set up - one for when I'm "At home" and one for when I'm "Away" that I can toggle between, but this isn't exactly ideal (as I often forget to toggle it). I've also had it happen once or twice where I am listening to an album at home, leave, and eventually the music stops after a few songs because can no longer connect to the "At home" server. Being able to change the IP address depending on whether or not you're on a specific wifi network should fix this.
I'm not sure if this is true for DSub as well, but when I use my custom subsonic address: user@subsonic.org, it does exactly as you said automatically in the browser. It may be a feature of the subsonic server itself, which would suggest it should work that way for DSub as well.
