dirtdigger wrote:Hi! Love the app. Just a quick request. I saw this on a different app (TransDroid) and thought it'd be a perfect feature for DSub. It has the option to use one IP address for a server when connected to a wifi network specified by essid, and different IP address for the same server if you're not connected to that wifi network. The rationale is that when you're at home you don't need your traffic going all over the internet if you can do it all on your LAN, but when you're out and about you can't connect to the local IP over the LAN. This makes the transition from home to out seamless while saving your internet's bandwidth.

Right now I have two servers set up - one for when I'm "At home" and one for when I'm "Away" that I can toggle between, but this isn't exactly ideal (as I often forget to toggle it). I've also had it happen once or twice where I am listening to an album at home, leave, and eventually the music stops after a few songs because can no longer connect to the "At home" server. Being able to change the IP address depending on whether or not you're on a specific wifi network should fix this.

I'm not sure if this is true for DSub as well, but when I use my custom subsonic address: user@subsonic.org, it does exactly as you said automatically in the browser. It may be a feature of the subsonic server itself, which would suggest it should work that way for DSub as well.

Some server forks (Supersonic and I believe MadSonic, too) don't require/provide a subsonic.org url, and I'd prefer not to use one.

I've asked for this feature as well. Basically, I want more than three servers available. Each server should also have its own bitrate settings. This way I can have an internal server and external. But more so, I have a tablet that connects via USB WWAN stick. The tablet thinks that wwan stick is its WiFi even though its not. This requires each server having its own bitrate settings.

I accomplish the same functionality by using my own DNS server. When I'm at home using my own Wi-Fi my subsonic url resolves to an internal IP address and when I'm on 4g my subsonic url resolves to my external address. It works perfectly for me and does everything that you guys were saying, except separate bitrates for the two different network types.

So this is something you have set up in your home router? I'll have to check into it, I don't know if I can do it with my router. But that may be a way to do it.

I still think it'd be nice to have this built into DSub, though.

I also have this setup. Works ok, but I really need the separate bitrate feature.

I use DNSmasq on my Linux box that provides this same functionality. Would be nice to be built into the app though.

How does DNSMasq provide separate bitrates per host?

You already can define more then 3 servers. I will add putting a different host while on wifi to the todo list, it just won't be a high priority item fyi. It's a very niche case that seems like it is a problem with your router since they are supposed to cache that the redirect is going into the internal server like that.

That's why I still maintain that separate bitrates per server is the best method.

I received the newest upgrade to DSub today. There was a new security permission that was requested :Create Accounts". What is the purpose of this new permission?

To create a system account for DSub which is required for syncing. If you look under System Settings -> Accounts you will see DSub.

Not sure I understand the point. Is this just moving functionality from the App to Android Settings? Or is it adding the ability to keep all Playlists/Podcasts in sync?

It's adding the ability to do scheduled sync
