The issue still exists. It seems track skipping with my headset controls works reliably, but not the physical volume buttons. I haven't had time to test if playback stops between songs. I'll check to see if somehow the widget is involved as well.
I'm on a Samsung S3 (Verizon), but I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.2 (Android 4.3).

It will play for a couple of songs and then at the end of one of them it will hang on the beginning of the next. Then I'll usually press skip which will cause it to skip the song it was stuck at the beginning of and pay the song after it. If I hit back, the previously stuck song will play fine. Then it will play regularly for a couple of songs and then glitch again.
Again I've only had this happen when I'm connected to Bluetooth. I've been living with this work around for a couple of months now.

Wait, which part of the issue are you talking about here? I thought the issue was that playback didn't go to the next song correctly, but you just said that you hadn't had time to test that part yet. I wasn't even aware that the physical volume buttons were supposed to change the track in the first place
