I'm experiencing an issue with the latest version (4.3.5). Frequently, playback of songs in the queue (whether cached, buffered, or not yet retrieved) hangs when a song ends or a track skip media button is pressed. Sometimes the delay is for a few seconds, other times it is indefinite. This only occurs when the screen is off. If a pause occurs, waking the device by any means resumes playback. Also, I have the DSub widget on my lockscreen and upon waking my device it shows the previous song as playing for a split second before updating to reflect the current song. I've tried reinstalling and a cache wipe. Previous versions do not have the issue.

Looking at the changes to the playback, there is only one thing I can tell that might even possibly be causing this. Give this a try and let me know if it fixes the issue.

That appears to have done the trick. I'll let you know if the issue pops up again.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Out of curiosity, what phone are you using? If that fixed it, someone's phone isn't obeying the API documentation correctly :?

The same thing was happening to me intermittently recently. I have a Galaxy S3.

Update:
The issue still exists. It seems track skipping with my headset controls works reliably, but not the physical volume buttons. I haven't had time to test if playback stops between songs. I'll check to see if somehow the widget is involved as well.

I'm on a Samsung S3 (Verizon), but I'm running Cyanogenmod 10.2 (Android 4.3).

I've had a similar problem over Bluetooth for a while now. Several releases. It will play for a couple of songs and then at the end of one of them it will hang on the beginning of the next. Then I'll usually press skip which will cause it to skip the song it was stuck at the beginning of and pay the song after it. If I hit back, the previously stuck song will play fine. Then it will play regularly for a couple of songs and then glitch again.

Again I've only had this happen when I'm connected to Bluetooth. I've been living with this work around for a couple of months now.

Wait, which part of the issue are you talking about here? I thought the issue was that playback didn't go to the next song correctly, but you just said that you hadn't had time to test that part yet. I wasn't even aware that the physical volume buttons were supposed to change the track in the first place :?

When it hangs, does it also continue on if you turn the screen back on like b0bj0e was saying? If it doesn't continue even after turning the screen on, can you try sending me a log when it happens? It probably won't help much, but I want to at least cross out the possibility that is throwing an internal error that is only happening on Bluetooth for some reason.

Do you have a logging facility inside DSub? Or should I just use one of the loggers in the play store?

On the home screen there should be an option to send logs in the overflow menu

The issue is with both. I meant I haven't had a chance to thoroughly test playback going to the next song with the 4.3.6 build you posted. Cyanogenmod, among other roms, lets you long press the volume keys with the screen off to change tracks.

Hi,

I am using DSub for a couple of month now and it is just awesome. I really dont have ideas what features could be missing ;)

What I like specifically is that when you change the order of songs in a playlist in the webinterface that this is later synced to Dsub.

The reason I say this is is that I am trying to use the API or DB myself to get this out of subsonic (the playlist correct order). Could you give me a hint how you get this out of Subsonic with DSBU? in the DB Table I do not find this information, also not in REST API.

THanks!

There is a rest api getPlaylist that returns a whole playlist in the correct order.

The hanging up issue between songs happens to me too. It doesn't happen all the time, but I have noticed that for me it only happens when I'm listening through headphones or an auxiliary cord. Bluetooth functions normally.

I'm on a Galaxy S3, Android version 4.3 (though it was also happening before I did the latest OS update too).

Feature Request

Postby xdanvitox » Mon Jan 20, 2014 3:50 am

I just had a few things I would like to request or put out there for the app. I apologize if any have been seen before.

My main request:
-Option to turn on the visualizer permanently.

Various UI and functional tweaks I think would be cool to consider:
-Move the little fade-in option bar options into the normal menu on the now playing screen to simplify the UI.
-Change selecting a song for playback in the library to play when it is touched (like in the now playing queue) as opposed to having to check it and then play.
-Remove the check mark selection in the library and implement the tap and hold multi-select like some other apps to simplify the UI.
-Option to put a starred items selection in the slide out menu.
-Move the shuffle button to the bottom where the queue button is and open the queue by tapping the album art.
-Make the now playing bottom bar swipe-able (up like Google Play Music and other various players.)
-Many others I don't even know yet because I'm OCD. 8)
-Implement sorting by artist, album, genre, etc. (unless this is how it works in the beta with ID3 support.)
-Have a section just for video.

I do not in any way mean for these to be demands; they are just various little things I think could spruce up the UI and functionality.

This is by far the best Subsonic app on the Play Store and I thank you for hard work!
