Glitch / click on play / track change in jukebox mode

Postby dcaputo » Wed Oct 22, 2014 1:04 am

Hi!

Using Subsonic 5.0 on Windows 7. I have a pretty standard PCI sound card (M-Audio Audiophile 2496), directly connected to the amp by RCA.

I would love to move to Subsonic for all my local playing needs by using jukebox on my home system, controlled remotely.

I'm unable to make the change, though, because of a glitch / click sound every time I begin a new stream. This means any time I initiate playback, or change tracks, or when the player gets to the end of a track and begins the next. In the logs I see, for example:
Opened line com.sun.media.sound.DirectAudioDevice$DirectSDL@8ef71b
Closed line com.sun.media.sound.DirectAudioDevice$DirectSDL@8ef71b
Opened line com.sun.media.sound.DirectAudioDevice$DirectSDL@1424a2d

every time a new file begins, which I assume is related. I've searched quite a bit on this topic and found some examples of people having the same problem, but no resolution. This has persisted through several versions, as I've actually been hoping to make this transition for a couple years. I get the same result using the web interface, Subsonic android app, or DSub. I'm sure this doesn't happen to everyone as it seems there are several people using jukebox happily. All other audio applications on my system work normally, I use it as an A/V HTPC and server.

If anyone has any tips I would be extremely grateful. I'd be happy to provide any further information. The Subsonic interface is just so much better than any other remote control I've tried that I am just dying to use it. It's almost come to the point that I miss being on the road when I have to come home and use my system locally :)

Thanks!
Dave

Is there anything I can do to help debug this? Is anyone interested in looking deeper at it? Does jukebox "just work" for most other people, or is this just not a well-supported function?

I would really love to get to the bottom of this, I'll help in any way I can.

Thanks,
Dave
