Yes please!

As I understand (not 100% sure I do ;)) it used to work, but the last update disabled it (server-side) for some clients. I'd really like for it to work again :).

Previous requests that would be sweet to have in the app some day:
- Gapless playback
- Equalizer

Offline Playlists

Postby captlogic@gmail.com » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:29 am

I would like to be able to access the playlists from the server, save them to my android phone via the app and then play that playlist with the player in offline mode.

I can currently dowload the songs on the playlist and have them available but not in the order that they exist on the playlist.

Otherwise love the program!

Choose Storage Location

Does that not work? You can set it up to scrobble if you go to the settings on the server site, I just assumed it would work whenever you used subsonic with that username no matter where you were but I never checked...

Anyway there's a lot of good ideas in here I agree with that I didn't really think about at first but the most pressing and immediate need for me is choosing where the cache is stored. On the Atrix the sdcard is not mounted on /mnt/sdcard at all but rather motorola choose to mount external storage at a separate location called /mnt/sdcard-ext (evil bastards are screwing with the storage practices of every one of my apps  ). Anyway it is really important to me that I can choose the location because I really want my music on the actual sdcard so I can give it most of the sdcard to play with and cache songs on.

Also, I love that subsonic does video but I wish it let you give video a separate cache or control what it bumps. Video takes up huge amounts of space and most of the time I don't want it cached since I will watch it only once or twice. But doing so risks bumping a lot of music that I will listen to regularly and makes me redownload that again. So it would be nice to separate it into some smaller more temporary cache or give the option to just stream the current track/video.

It used to scrobble all the time from the server, and people complained that it was scobbling things that were downloading (instead of listening) to a remote device, and that the songs that were cached "mobile-ly" were not scobbling when listed to in the cache.

Sindre changed it so that the remote app can tell the server when to scrobble, so that it can be accurate. But he has not updated the Android App to use the new feature yet.

So currently, scrobbling does not work on the Android app. But it has been added to the souce code, so it is assumed that it will be included when Sindre next releases an update.

Hello, I've just bought Subsonic license and I'm very happy with the app, but there are two things very importants for me.

First of all, the "folder.jpeg" issue that was commented here before. It is very uncomfortable to see all the album art in the gallery and not in the Android music player

I think the Offline mode may improve. I download the music from the server via WiFi (the data rates in Spain makes impossible use this app always in 3G, very expensive!!). I would like to see my playlist in every moment, not only online. It will also be interesting a way to import/export playlist to the Android Media Player.

Cheers!

Random album -- also in offline mode.

Use this all the time, when I'm at home and connected to the server. Would be great to have the "random" button also in offline mode, picking a random album of the cached ones.

Jukebox

+10 :)

That would be spectacular! Navigating on the web interface with my Desire is a pain.
It can't be too difficult to implement too, no? Just add an option in the settings menu for the connection (like someone already proposed). I think it would make many people happy! :D

Two items I'd like to see in the Android app.

*
Support for extended ascii characters.
Please see my post in another thread concerning this issue. This is preventing the Android app from reading certain files and folders, resulting in errors.

*
An option for disabling of the local cache feature. While I see this is a good idea for faster playback later, I rarely listen to the same thing twice on my phone.
I create random playlists using the web form and then only play those when using the Android app so I always have a shuffle mode thing going. (I mainly only use Subsonic on Android while driving and I'm sure I'm not the first to bring this suggestion up.)

Better Audiobook Support

Postby Nosmo King » Mon Mar 21, 2011 6:43 pm

I love the app! Thanks, Sindre!

Would it be possible to add (optional) controls for playing back multi-track audio books? Audible has two features I'd love to see in the Subsonic Android app:
1. Remember last position in any track so returning to a book would start up exactly where playback left off, regardless of what has been played in between, or even if the app has been closed.
2. Back up 30 seconds. This is very useful for audio books. Audible even provides the ability for the user to customize the number of seconds the backtrack button jumps for each press.

I have a few requests:

I liked the artwork before (when it was just displayed as large as possible without fancy effects) better, could this be reimplemented (maybe selectable by the user)

It would be nice if the server would know when a cached file on the client is being played, would implementation be feasible?

The jukebox-mode that gets mentioned al lot would be nice indeed.

And I'd still like this

+1 for this. I would like to be able to choose between the old "Now Playing" skin and the new skin.

Swipe controls for next/previous track at the now playing screen is my addition to the request list. Quite handy while driving.
